SPECIAL CARRIED COVERS OF KARANATAKA POSTAL CIRCLE

  India post has released various carried covers to mark the special events.,like covers carried by hovercraft,by tableau,by harkara,by toy train ,by boat,by horse cart and even by drone.
  I am sharing some of carried covers of Karnataka.

FIRST HOT AIR BALLOON FLIGHT COVER:

  This was carried in 14/11/1963,Ballon took off from race course ground Bangalore at 12.05pm and ended at Cholanayaknhalli village ,Thippagondanhalli P.O of Bengaluru district.Mr D.N Ramachandran PMG Mysuru circle handed philatelic mail to pilot H.Jo.Sheer of First Balloon Mail Flight with one Co-pilot and an Indian youngster Anil Kumar of Bangalore.

  A special post cards were carried from Jakkur airport to Children's village 
by aircraft.This was done to raise the funds for Children's welfare.Date of flight 14/11/67.Pilot G.Nallayya

   This special cover was relased to commemorate "KABALI- SPECIAL FLIGHT" take off for Rajinikanth's movie,between Bengaluru - Chennai - Bengaluru.This was first time in history a special flight was scheduled for a movie. This special cover  was released at CYCLOTHON 2019 bicycle rally organised by Vijayapura postal division on 27/01/19 at Basavanabagewadi to popularise the postal services

KHADI ARTISAN CARRIED COVER

The Khadi artisan carried cover was released on 19/8/2019 at philfest.The khadi cloth on cover is produced by artisans of Khadi gramodyoga sangha of Bidar.Cover was carried from PMG Bidar H O to Sub postmaster Chitguppa

Mahatma Gandhiji visit to Karanataka

After returning from South Africa,Gandhiji travelled throughout India for freedom movement,social reforms for rising funds.Gandhiji visited Karanataka 18 times .Following are the some of places he visited 

  Gandhiji visited Karanataka first in 1915 to Bengaluru with Kastrba and his two daughters,D V Gundappa invited him .He unveiled the porttrait of his Rajya guru Gopal Krishna Gokhle in Government High school

 Gandhiji visited Bengaluru later in  1920,1927,1934 and 1936

The 39th congress sessionwas held in Belgavi for two days.Gandhiji arrived at session   on  Dec 26 1936 morning,before the session begin,He was president for this historical session.He addressed the gathering and told the importance of non violence.He had put up a tent near vaccine depot without having stay in anyone's home

Gandhiji visited Doddballapur in 1934 and addressed rally of 25000 pepople

Gandhiji visited Vijapura{Bijapur} for 17 th congress assembly at 15th may  1918 and visited agin at 28th may 1921 to see Gol Gumbaz                          

Gandhiji visited Nandi hills a hill station near to Bengaluru and stayed there for 45 days at 1927 and 20 days at 1936 took rest and treatment for his increased blood pressure.

      

          Gandhi's campaign against untouchability also brought him to Mysore on January 5, 1934. He visited visited Tagadur, Badanval and Nanjangud urging people against In fact, Gandhiji had visited Mysore before this also but as a guest of Nalwadi Krishnaraja WadiyarThere was severe opposition from British rule, but Nalwadi hosted Gandhi in 1927 and 1936.Impressed by the Mysore State's progress in education, agriculture and art, Gandhiji had famouslyhad famously remarked that Maharaja was a 'Rajarshi (a saintly king).Gandhiji visited Mysuru first time and stayed in Sheshadri house.He inagurated K.R.Mills during first visit

Bapuji visited Chikamangaluru in 1927,addresed gathering in commisonerhall

Gandhiji visited Kodogu and stayed in Ramakrishna ashram for a night on feb 22nd 1934

In 1934 Gandhiji visited Chitradurga and Davangere

Gandhiji visited Bellary in 1921 and took rally from railway sation

Gandhiji visited Mangaluru on three times 1920 (khilafath tour),1927(khadinprachar)and 1934(harijan tour).In 1934 he laid foundation stone for krishna mandir in canara school

Gandhiji visited Huduli village of Belgavi district April 1937 stayed for seven days in Kumari Ashram.During these days everyday morning shramadana was led by Bapu and later noon social meetings were conducted by him
